Strength in Solidarity: Reclaiming Our Telework Future

As we eagerly await the briefing on the new CBA this evening, I am optimistic about the potential improvements to the Telework Article. The urgency of lifting our telework limitations cannot be overstated. It is not just a matter of convenience, but a crucial factor in ensuring our collective well-being and productivity. The past nine months have been a difficult journey, as the Agency's relentless attack on our telework rights has left an indelible mark on our members, Contract Representatives, and, most importantly, our collective spirit.

The actions of the Agency and the Region IV RVP have inflicted profound harm, causing mental anguish, chaos, and a profound erosion of trust. Witnessing the toll this has taken on our members' well-being is heartbreaking. I've had the privilege of speaking with countless members, including those in the Western-Pacific Region, and the stories they shared were profoundly moving. One member couldn't even obtain a Conditional Telework Agreement to say goodbye to his father in his final moments. Such incidents are not just appalling; they are a stark reminder of the human cost of these policies.

Our members have faced unimaginable hardships. Many have watched loved ones suffer from critical medical conditions, needing to be close by in case of emergencies. Due to long commutes, single mothers and fathers have struggled to balance work and family life. And too many have missed precious last moments with dying loved ones. These are the real-life consequences of the RVP's failure to stand up to the Senior Leadership Team and advocate for our rights.

Despite the challenges, I have not wavered in my commitment. As a full-time remote worker, I have been fortunate to avoid the direct impact of these changes. However, this privilege has only strengthened my resolve to fight for all of our members' rights. I firmly believe that any compromise on our CBA is a step towards dissolution. This battle is not just about telework; it's about defending every right enshrined in our CBA. I have proven my dedication to this cause, and I will continue to fight relentlessly, no matter the personal cost.

As we prepare for the national briefings on our new CBA, let us remember the battles we've fought and the lessons we've learned. We must enforce the new CBA with more vigilance and determination than ever before. We will rise above these challenges, united in our commitment to justice and fairness.

I am here for you, always. Please do not hesitate to share your thoughts, concerns, or critiques. Our strength lies in our solidarity, and I am honored to stand with you in this fight. Your voice, experience, and commitment are crucial to our advocacy efforts. Let us stand together, united in our cause.

In solidarity,

Mary
